The Consolidated Government announced plans to increase 2026 property taxes above the rollback millage rate. The increases are set at 2.00 percent in Urban Services Districts 1, 5, 6 and 7 and 4.50 percent in Urban Services District 2.
The council holds regular meetings at 9:00 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month and at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the C.E. 'Red' McDaniel City Services Center. The body consists of ten members representing districts 1 through 10, including Simi Barnes of District 1, Glenn Davis of District 2 and Toyia Tucker of District 4, with Lindsey Mclemore serving as Clerk of Council.
